StartUp Kazakhstan participant signed a contract for $16.6 million

Norwegian startup Multi Solution Gate Production wins its first contract for the supply of an aircraft cleaning plant

The buyer is High Wings, a Saudi Arabian airline. The first prototypes of the equipment will be delivered to King Khalid Airport in August 2020. The contract value is approximately US $ 16 million.

Multi-Solution Gate (MSG) develops anti-icing technology for aviation. MSG supplies the market with products and solutions for washing and removing sand and ice from aircraft surfaces, as well as washing and inspecting the engine. Washing is a cycle of operations through which the aircraft is guided by a specially programmed electric tug.

Now planes are washed by hand. The market value of a car wash in different countries varies from $ 500 to $ 1.5 thousand per plane. Clean aircraft use less fuel, according to research by Boeing and Airbus. Washing your aircraft every two weeks can save 1 to 2% on fuel. This is about 70-100 thousand euros per year.

MSG Production applied for the StartUp Kazakhstan international acceleration program in the summer of 2019 and will continue its participation in the accelerator until the end of the year. According to the director of LOGA Group, partner and representative of MSG, Alexander Loktionov, by the time the application was submitted, the project was “fully packed” to work with international customers:

“Our partners — the Trade Representation of Norway and investment partners in Kazakhstan Tech Garden, which organizes the StartUp Kazakhstan accelerator, render great assistance. Additional funding for the project will be used to further promote the company in the Eurasian market. We needed support from local representatives in local markets. We expect partners to help us interact and adapt the solution for Asian countries. Currently, active work is underway in this direction. "

In early October, the technical novelty will be presented at the Inter Airport Europe exhibition in Munich. The developers will demonstrate the aircraft washing system using a virtual reality simulator. According to Dag Jostein Clover, the company already has a number of proposals from other airports and airlines interested in innovation.

“This is a lucky day for us,” commented Doug Jostein Clover, CEO of MSG Production, “The sales process began in the spring of 2018. We never thought the sales process would take so long, but when you sell an innovative aviation solution, there are many things that need to be in place”.

In 2017, MSG Production received the Seal of Excellence and € 2.5 million in funding from the European Commission’s Horizon 2020 SME Research and Innovation Program. The funds received went to the creation of a full-scale demonstration complex, which was built at Skien Gaiteruggen Airport in Norway.

“We met MSG Production during the Seed Forum in Oslo in 2018. Over the past year, together with Norwegian colleagues, we have worked on adapting the Multi-Solution Gate financial model for clients. Currently, several clients from Russia and the CIS are also interested in the solution, “said Alexander Loktionov, director of LOGA Group, partner and representative of MSG.
