Two unique programs for “pumping” young and already mature startups will be presented by Tech Garden at Startup Village 2019 in Moscow

Tech Garden is the only representative of Kazakhstan and Central Asian countries at the Startup Village, the largest startup event in Eurasia, held at the Skolkovo Innovation Center. On June 29 and 30, the Tech Garden Autonomous Cluster Fund, within the framework of the seventh International Conference Startup Village 2019, will present two unique programs for “pumping” startups.

Participants will get acquainted with the conditions of the first program from Tech Garden — StartUp Kazakhstan — on May 30 at 15:30 at the Experimental Stage. General Director of Tech Garden Sanzhar Kettebekov will speak on the topic: “Investments in technology platforms to stimulate demand for startups.” He will present proven successful cases of integrating startups into industrial-level platforms, which allows startups to fully develop and form an exit strategy for investors.

Sanzhar Kettebekov, General Director of Tech Garden: “The problems of all national programs for the development of a startup ecosystem, including venture financing, are associated with the difficulties of exporting. Today, a decent stream of young innovative companies is being formed, but they often do not have the necessary expertise and product quality, ready to work outside their own market. As part of the Startup Kazakhstan program, we present a solution to this problem by investing in the creation of joint laboratories with international technology companies".

By gaining access to industrial-grade platforms, startups acquire the necessary qualifications and reach the bar of current standards in such conservative industries as the mining and metallurgical complex or the oil and gas sector. The result of this integration was the opportunity to enter foreign markets. The presentation will feature cases on several platforms — Industry 4.0, digitalization of the construction industry, metallurgy and a platform for finance and taxes.

The second product will be of interest to more advanced teams. The Landing Kazakhstan program is a set of tools for quick exit and long-term success in the market of Kazakhstan and the economic region of the Silk Road. It is, in a way, a bunch of keys that open doors for companies to new markets. Knowing the situation and processes from the inside ensures a focused product orientation. The participant is provided with an individual analysis of the client: its type and market segment, goals, needs and problems. As well as information about possible competitors: their successes, failures, strengths and weaknesses. Understanding the big picture creates a code for success.

Sanzhar Kettebekov, General Director of Tech Garden: “Tech Garden has accumulated experience and knowledge to implement your product in such industries as Mining and Metallurgical Complex, Smart City, FinTech, Blockchain, Building Information Modeling, Logistics. We can also be proud of an impressive set of partners in the largest corporations of Kazakhstan, government agencies, investment funds and the scientific community, who can provide program participants with their expertise and competencies, as well as become potential consumers of your product. "

The participation of Tech Garden in the largest conference, where thousands of startups gather, allows attracting young teams and the technologies they have developed to Kazakhstan. World practice shows that the integration of start-ups into the industry and business of the country gives a powerful impetus for introducing innovations into the real sectors of the economy. Startups will be able to apply for participation in both programs and clarify all the details of the acceleration on May 29-30 in the Tech Garden pavilion, which is located next to the Metal Stage zone.

Also in the Tech Garden pavilion will be presented laboratories created together with foreign partners in the areas of Artificial Intelligence, Additive Mechanical Engineering and New Materials, Building Informatization and Blockchain.

Background information: The Tech Garden Autonomous Cluster Fund was created with the support of the Government of Kazakhstan and is a professional environment for the development of innovations demanded by business based on the effective interaction of business, start-ups, investors, educational and research institutions.

The international acceleration program StartUp Kazakhstan is implemented by ACF Tech Garden under the auspices of the Ministry of Industry and Infrastructure Development of the Republic of Kazakhstan and is aimed at creating a critical mass of high-tech companies in the small and medium-sized business market.

The first and second waves of the StartUp Kazakhstan program took place in 2018. More than 2 thousand startups from Kazakhstan, Russia, Belarus, Ukraine, Kyrgyzstan, Bulgaria, Poland, and the USA have applied for participation in it. As a result of a careful expert selection, 69 startups (30 from Kazakhstan and 39 from the CIS countries) underwent acceleration. In 2018, startups created 250 jobs. All projects showed results, some gave an increase of 200-300%.

“As a result of two stages, we have already accelerated and financed 69 startups. Today these are already quite serious companies, they have grown in just a few months. They have already earned 2.2 billion tenge during the program period. We estimate their total portfolio at around $ 70 million. Some companies have reached the milestone when they are worth more than $ 10 million. There are companies that, with ideas developed here, went to Singapore, Malaysia, now they are entering the US markets, European markets, “said Sanzhar Kettebekov.

In May, the third wave of the StartUp Kazakhstan program began. Out of 500 applications, 40 startups were selected, which have already started acceleration. In the second half of the year, the fourth wave of acceleration is planned; startups are already submitting applications for participation in the program.

The Seventh International Conference Startup Village will be held on May 29-30 at the Skolkovo Innovation Center. The event will traditionally become a unique platform where startup founders will meet with successful businessmen, investors, large technology corporations and government officials to discuss technology trends, ideas and the formation of a new generation of Russian entrepreneurs.

The Startup Village business program will include over 150 interactive sessions. The event is expected to be attended by over 300 speakers from 80 countries, 4500 startups and over a thousand interested investors. The format of the conference involves open communication between startups and leaders of technology entrepreneurship and first-hand consultations.
