The Autonomous Cluster Fund “Park of Innovative Technologies, operating under the Tech Garden brand, became the winner of the grant program Manufacturing Sector Consortia: Competence Centers. This important step will allow organizing and developing a center of engineering competencies in the field of industrial robotics and robotization, which will be based in Almaty at the Al-Farabi Kazakh National University

The Engineering Competence Center is designed to provide startups with a unique platform for studying, demonstrating and testing concepts of robotization of technological operations. It will become a key platform for dissemination of knowledge, skills and opportunities for further implementation of developed solutions in industrial companies both in Kazakhstan and in neighboring countries.

The creation of the center of engineering competencies in the field of industrial robotics and robotization is a logical continuation of our ongoing work and we look forward to bringing it to life. We are convinced that the center will be a catalyst for startups and will strengthen our contribution to the development of digitalization of Kazakhstan's industrial sphere, said Baurzhan Kankin, CEO of Tech Garden Autonomous Cluster Fund Park of Innovative Technologies.

The Center for Engineering Competencies in Industrial Robotics will become a new magnet for young minds where they can create their own startup companies in the field of industrial robotics, said Amirkhan Temirbayev, Deputy Head of the subproject, PhD, Director General of the Cluster of Engineering and Science-Intensive Technologies at Al-Farabi Kazakh National University.

The main goal of the Engineering Competence Center will be to nurture new startup companies in the field of industrial robotics and robotization. This involves supporting startups in overcoming technical, financial and networking obstacles, which facilitates their development and successful launch.

The members of the consortium that joined their efforts to organize the work of the engineering competence center were as follows:

Autonomous cluster fund “Park of Innovative Technologies” Tech Garden, NJSC “Al-Farabi Kazakh National University”, “Automatic Boilers” LLP, Association of Legal Entities “Kazakhstan Association of Automation and Robotics”, University of Southern Denmark and RuSvis Huland AG (Switzerland).

The launch of the engineering competence center underscores the national effort towards technological innovation and industry modernization supported by robotics and digital solutions. The move is in line with the strategic drive to build innovation ecosystems and contribute to the development of the industry. The center is scheduled to start operations in the second quarter of 2024.
