Kazakhstani startup Egistic entered the market

Peasants will now be able to monitor the state of the fields without leaving their homes

The Egistic team has created a unique satellite imagery processing system that allows you to receive data on seedling density, fertilizer concentration, soil moisture and much more remotely, at any time. Today the team is announcing a market launch with a finished product.

“We are pleased to announce the launch of the first domestic online service for precision farming in Kazakhstan — Egistic. The agro-industrial complex is the engine of the primary sector of the economy of Kazakhstan, therefore, the introduction of new technologies is especially necessary for the further development of agriculture. Motivated by this thought, the Egistic team will present the final result after 1 year of continuous work on the product, “says the co-founder of the project, Nayla Shodorova.

Egistic.kz is a comprehensive solution for agronomists or agribusiness owners, which allows you to get the maximum benefit from farming at the lowest cost. Now there is no need to go around or bypass huge territories in order to monitor the situation in the fields. It is enough to connect to the Egistic.kz platform and instantly, in one click, get information. And, if problems are found, promptly solve them. For example, re-sowing, without wasting time, an area where crops have grown poorly, or apply fertilizers where they are not enough or plant development lags behind the norm.

Right now, every farmer can see clearly how this works. To do this, you just need to go to the Egistic.kz platform, enter the cadastral number of the site and get data about it for the last year for free: indicators of vegetation, humidity, chlorophyll, nitrogen. Up-to-date data on the current state of the field will be very inexpensive for farmers. For example, the analysis of the condition of a plot of 5 thousand hectares will cost a farmer only 7 thousand tenge per year.

The analysis is based on images from the NASA LandSat project. The program developed by the Egistic team filters the image to obtain the required data. Sophisticated algorithms recognize the required information and present it to the user in a simple and understandable format. Choosing, as in the constructor, the desired tab, the farmer receives different cards of the same field. On one, he sees the moisture content of the earth, on the other — the content of chlorophyll in plants, on the third — the saturation of the soil with nitrogen or other substances. The program provides a wide range of information, including snow thickness and weather forecast.

“The main value of the product is not in the images themselves, but in the algorithms that are used to receive and process data. The atmosphere layer distorts the readings. We do atmospheric correction, align charts, and file everything into a report. It takes about four to five levels of preprocessing before the client gets the result, “explains the founder of the project, Zhandos Kerimkulov.

Egistic is one of the successful projects of the Startup Kazakhstan International Acceleration Program, carried out by the Tech Garden Autonomous Cluster Fund. And the team of the Fund states with satisfaction that after a year of intensive work, Egistic has grown from a startup into a full-fledged business project. Already today, the platform is used by about 30 peasant farms in different regions of the country. The guys plan that their number will increase several times over the course of the year. In addition, the project is entering the markets of neighboring countries. So already at the initial stage, the Russian giant Uralchem   became interested in the development of Kazakhstanis, and now negotiations are underway on cooperation.

The Egistic team would like to thank everyone who supported the promising idea and contributed to its transformation into a sought-after product.

“This would not have been possible without the support of NURIS, the innovative cluster of Nazarbayev University Astana Business Campus and the Science Foundation JSC and the ACF Tech Garden. We thank everyone who contributed in every way to the development of our brainchild! “, Says the founder of the project, Zhandos Kerimkulov.
